Essential Tips to Remove Stains Out Of T-shirt

When you spill something on your t-shirt, the first thing you think of is a quick way to get rid of the stain? Well, guess what you can save your t-shirts from stains that come in different colours and textures. From oil to chocolate, each stain type asks for a different cleaning method. We’ve got the best stain-busting tips and tricks for knocking those uninvited spots right off your tees. Don’t wait until calamity to know these protocols. By then it could be too late.

“Best when fresh” is the phrase to remember as stains are like French fries, the quicker you can attack it the better.

For Chocolate Stains

1. Always read the care label on your T-shirt before attempting stain removal. Cotton, linen, polyester and spandex are all suitable for standard washing methods.
2. Gently remove chocolate stain with a knife or spoon. Be extra careful not to spread the chocolate onto other areas of the tee or rub it deeper into the fabric.
3. To stop the stain from further entering into the fabric, rinse the back of the stain with cold, running water.
4. Apply a small portion of laundry detergent to the chocolate stain and leave to soak in cold water for between 15-30 minutes.
5. Wash the fabric as normal and do not dry the t-shirt until the stain has been fully removed.
6. Repeat step 4 if necessary

For Tea or Coffee Stains

1. 

1. Rinse the stain as soon as you can, running the t-shirt under a stream of warm water through the stain. But avoid using hot water as direct heat can speed-up the stain setting into the fabric.
2. Apply laundry detergent directly to the stained area and gently rub the material against itself. For tougher stains, soak your tee for a few hours.
3. Rinse and repeat until the stain has dissolved as much as possible.
4. But if you are at work or out having no access to water, blot the stain with absorbent (thick) tissue to soak up as much liquid as possible while still wet. Avoid using toilet paper as it can mess your clothes; try to find a tougher tissue.
5. Else press wet tissue against the stain while wearing.
6. And when you get home, treat the stain with the laundry detergent bar soap and then wash as normal according to the care instructions on the t-shirt.
7. If it’s still proving to be stubborn to remove, you can try soaking the tee with a small amount of detergent for a few hours.

For Oil Stains

1. Cover the stain entirely with talcum powder, cornstarch, tissue paper or cotton swab and leave it for a few hours in a warm place. Do not rub-down into the stain.
2. Clear powder using a clean toothbrush. If the oil stain is still there, repeat.
3. Afterwards, wash the clothing according to the garment care label.
4. Alternatively, you could make a thick paste using hot water and dishwashing liquid (Vim works best). Cover the stain with the thick paste, and gently use a clean toothbrush in circular motions to rub the stain.
5. Afterwards, rinse with hot water. Once the stain is gone, wash the t-shirt at the highest heat possible, according to the garment care tag.
